Check out this work by 1st yr Alexandros Ampatzoglou'20! He is a painter from Thessaloniki, Greece. “The repealed visual elements (interior space, artificial light, light of exterior bleeding into interior space, structures of industrial architecture, steep and angular compositions) are associated with the visual experience I had the past years of the economic crisis in Greece, where many buildings left half built in the cities, because they run out of money.” - AA

“Psychogeography" explores artists’ responses to place [and displacement] in real and imagined spaces. From the psychic to the specific, from recollection to recording, the works in this exhibit recreate the power of place in the human imagination.

Congrats to Amy Wetsch on featured Velocity (Volume 2/Issue 2/Spring'19) article! "When Art & Science Collide" pg.15 in collaboration with HEMI/MICA Extreme Arts Summer opportunity.

“I didn’t expect artists and scientists to be so similar. Despite some language barriers, we are both really creative beings and problem solvers who are always improvising and innovating, and not afraid of failure.” - Working with Professor Sarah Hörst, Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at JHU.

Congratulations to Fall'18 AIR Siobhan Liddell on NY Times Feature!

Congratulations to Fall'18 AIR Siobhan Liddell on NY Times Feature!

Ms. Liddell’s artworks involve little in the way of fine materials or recognizable skills, while being visibly handmade. Her exhibition at the gallery of Sam Gordon and Jacob Robichaux is, as usual, a menagerie of disparate, modestly sized, oddly poetic things spread about the space, and it feels initially a little like stepping into an aquarium. - Roberta Smith, Co-Chief Art Critic New York Times

“I collect prosaic materials that are ubiquitous to a region I inhabit or that which is intrinsically tied to a certain decade or place. Linoleum tile, textiles, wallpaper, molds and building materials all have resonance in my work that references the underlying historical narrative of culture and how it is subverted and decays over time. By provoking the familiar, my work hovers between the past and present, and the personal to the collective. The overlaying of times coupled with a degenerative quality excavates the tradition of linear notions of temporality. My work responds to regional architecture, diagnosing its singular abasing history to that which can be observed and reflected upon.” - LC @hopelessidealist_1
